Andress Brewster Collaboration

Bringing together the two talents of Barbara Andress, sculptor, and Deanne Brewster, potter, with over thirty years of combined artistic experience has enabled the artists to merge clay and steel into one-of-a-kind functional and decorative art pieces that delight the eye.

Their collaborative effort, beginning in 2003, is a special process requiring balance, trust, dialogue, and generosity. Its success rests on a working atmosphere that encourages risk taking and experimentation. The shape of one of Deanne's vessels will spur Barbara to create a top or pedestal to complement it. At other times Barbara will design a form that begs for Deanne to create a piece of pottery to integrate with it. They inspire each other, are energized by their process of cooperation, and their ideas just keep flowing.
